Mirrors: They expand a space and, when strategically placed, can reflect back the very best features of your room and bounce around additional light. And, if you have a covered porch, they can do the exact same thing outside.

If you are planning to have a Cinco de Mayo party or are looking for a fun decoration for a birthday or other kind of celebration, then consider incorporating a pinata. I just found a great resource for already-made or custom-designed pinatas that are so special I would use them at a party that we were planning; Dale’ Pinatas, on Etsy. Dale’ means “hit it” in Spanish ~ just make sure that everyone stands back during this activity so that your whack does not end up on America’s Funniest Home Videos!

One of the easiest & most cost effective updates you can give your home is to paint your front door a new color. It instantly improves your home’s curb appeal. Skillfully picking a bolder, non-neutral color that complements the exterior style of your house can give it a fresh & very current look.

The color yellow is associated with happiness, optimism & clarity. It is a color that signals activity & energy. A dose of yellow in an interior, or exterior, space can punch things up unlike any other color ~

This is the time of year to declutter and lighten and brighten up your home ~ removing the extra layers and packing away for the spring and summer months anything that is weighing your space down. I love the color turquoise and, if you are considering some changes to your home, I find it to be a very timeless, happy and flexible focal or accent color. Turquoise is on the cool side of the color wheel. It works with any type of furniture and evokes the feeling of water and feels especially perfect for a Lake Norman home.
Here is some turquoise inspiration to ponder as we head into this summery feeling weekend ~
