James Jackson
James Jackson had a pair of goals and three other players also scored as Hough beat Glenn High of Kernersville 5-1 Wednesday night in the first round of the NC High School Athletic Association 4A soccer playoffs. Lake Norman and North Meck also picked up first-round wins.
The Huskies, now 12-6-2 on the year, will host West Mecklenburg (9-9-2) in the second round Saturday at 6pm at Hough Stadium, 12420 Bailey Road, Cornelius. Read the full story

But time was not on the Cats’ side and Furman held on with a 3-2 decision in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference tournament Sunday afternoon at Stone Soccer Stadium in women’s soccer. Hough High School’s boys’ soccer team captured the I-Meck 4A league title on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory at home over Mallard Creek. The win also likely means a top seed for the Huskies going into the state playoffs.
Michael Basnett and Leo Hajrullahu had goals for the Huskies. Clay Kennedy and Basnett had assists. Hough goes to 11-6-2 overall on the season, 10-2-2 in the league. Read the full story
