Davidson College’s basketball and other teams reportedly may be on the verge of leaving the Southern Conference and joining the Atlantic-10 Conference. Citing anonymous sources, CBS Sports reporter Jeff Goodman reported Sunday night that the change could come in 2014-15. Goodman says the change is awaiting approval by Davidson trustees. Former Davidson Wildcat Stephen Curry is grabbing some more time in the spotlight as his team, the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, heads into the playoffs. In the “Inside the NBA” column this week, Sports Illustrated writer Chris Ballard argues that Curry may be “one of the pure shooters of all time.”

Sophia Aleksandravicius scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Davidson over Old Dominion, 82-73, in the opening round of the Women’s NIT Thursday night in Norfolk, Va.
Three other Wildcats also had double figures as the Wildcats won their first-ever postseason game. Laura Murray (16), Dakota Dukes (15) and Jasmine Calin (10) also led the scoring.
Aleksandravicius had her 28th career 20-point outing, and her 20th double double. She went a career-best 11-for-14 from the free throw line. Read the full story

It was the definition of a heartbreaker. Fourteenth-seeded Davidson led No. 3 Marquette for most of the way in their NCAA men’s basketball opening round game Thursday afternoon. But an errant in-bounds pass by the Wildcats and a last-second layup by Vander Blue let the Golden Eagles steal a 59-58 victory, and a spot in the next round of the tournament’s East Regional in Lexington, KY.
