High Point and Jacksonville took their battle for the National Lacrosse Conference 2011 championship in overtime on Sunday at Davidson’s Richardson Stadium. High Point freshman Christie Dougherty, who had three goals on the day, scored the game winner as the Panthers Point took a 13-12 victory and the title. Davidson Day School said Tim Weir is stepping down as athletic director at the end of the school year because of a family move. Meanwhile, Davidson Day’s Bernard Sullivan got co-MVP honors at the recent Jordan Brand Classic basketball game in Charlotte. And Davidson College freshman Grayam Sailor-Tynes won the 1,500 meters last weekend at the Southern Conference track championships.
