Davidson Day’s Kyle Fuller finished third and Davidson Day’s finished 5th overall in the NCISAA state golf championship May 9 and 10 in Southern Pines.
Fuller earned all-state honors with his third place finish, with a 148 total. He finished behind Todd Eckstein and Matt Dengler, both of Trinity School in Durham, who shot 144 and 147 respectively. His score actually tied Brandon Firooznia of United Faith, but Fuller had the edge with a lower score on the highest handicap hole, according to Davidson Day School.

CONOVER – Davidson Day School’s varsity golf team may be only in its first year, but on Monday they entered the big time. Davidson College freshman Richard Fountain on Tuesday did something no Wildcat golfer has done since 1973: He won the Southern Conference golf tournament. And he did it with a big finish.
Fountain shot a 5-under-par 67 – the best round of the tournament by any player – to end with a 9-under-par 207 (68-72-67) for 54 holes. That put him a stroke ahead of Lewis Gruber of Georgia Southern (68-72-68) and five strokes ahead of third-place finisher Logan Blondell, also of Georgia Southern. Read the full story

FLORENCE, S.C. – Davidson freshman Richard Fountain shot an even-72 in the second round Monday to remain in a tie for the individual lead at the Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the Country Club of South Carolina. As a team, Davidson slipped from fifth to ninth with a two-round total of 592 (293+299) and will tee off for the third and final round from the 10th hole Tuesday morning at 8:50 a.m. Read the full story

FLORENCE, S.C. – Competing in his first Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship, Davidson freshman Richard Fountain was tied for the lead lead late in the second round Monday at Country Club of South Carolina.
Fountain was tied for the lead individually after firing a four-under-par 68 Sunday. As a team, the Wildcats stood in fifth-place at 293 and teed off for the second of three rounds Monday at 9 a.m.
