DAVIDSON – The Davidson Planning Board voted 8-1 Monday night to recommend eliminating the town’s Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance and to strike related language from the town rules. DAVIDSON – A Washington State developer is moving ahead with plans for a four-story, 120-unit retirement housing complex off I-77 Exit 30. Representatives of Hawthorn Retirement Group of Vancouver, Wash., were at a joint meeting of the Davidson Town and Planning boards Monday night, where they heard a variety of concerns, about everything from parking to possible tree removal to the amount of public open space.
Hawthorn has been discussing changes in the project with Davidson planners for a year, since a public planning workshop in January 2011. Monday’s meeting was the first of several additional public sessions required before the project can be built. Read the full story

The Design Review Board on Wednesday approved design changes on a planned 2 1/2-story duplex at Jetton Street and Davidson Gateway Drive, and gave the go-ahead for a hot dog cart on Main Street, between the library and CVS. Davidson’s Town Board on Tuesday approved a conditional zoning that allows the Rushco Davidson Market off I-77 Exit 30 to adopt signage that doesn’t meet current town rules. The 5-0 vote came after a brief presentation by economic development manager Kris Krider and a public hearing where no citizens spoke.
