DAVIDSON – John Marshall Custom Homes Inc. of Davidson is inviting the public to tour a recently completed “green” home this Sunday, April 15, from 1 to 5 p.m. Located at 518 Walnut St. in downtown Davidson, this is the local builder’s third home built to the standards of the LEED for Homes program administered by the U.S. Green Building Council.
In 2009, John Marshall Custom Homes, Inc. built a home at 233 Catawba Ave. in Davidson which became the first house in Davidson to be LEED certified. In 2011 their home at 631 James Alexander Way became their 2nd LEED certified home in Davidson.
Visitors can learn more about the process of building a green home. Owner Rodney Graham, a Certified Green Building Professional, will be there to answer questions.
The LEED for Homes program offers certification to homes that meet strict standards in energy and water efficiency, site selection, indoor air quality, material resource utilization, public education, and sustainable construction practices.
DIRECTIONS: Hwy 115 to Walnut Street (by Davidson United Methodist Church); take Walnut Street 1/3 mile and house will be on the right.
