Thank you for putting the article about the rescue of the dogs from the puppy mill in Western North Carolina. Sadly, conditions have to get to the deplorable stage before there is any intervention. From that article, I went to the N.C. Legislature web page about House Bill 930 and have encouraged my friends to email their representative to vote for that bill. Read the full story

The 4th annual Helping Paws Dog Show, which promotes the adoption of dogs from Project Halo, will be held on Saturday, May 11, this year moving from downtown Davidson to Bellingham Park in Mooresville.
The show is a student-organized fundraiser and adoption event for Project Halo, a no-kill shelter in Mooresville. It was started by Brooke Phillips, whose family adopted their dog Roxie from Project Halo on Brooke’s 10th birthday. That inspired her to host her first dog show when she was a sixth grader. Now a high school sophomore, she says she’s still eager to help other families and dogs find one another through organizing and hosting these events. Read the full story

The Humane Society of Charlotte says it rescued 19 breeding dogs early Saturday, April 27, from a puppy mill in western North Carolina. The society said its emergency response team found a breeding operation at the site, with 19 Maltese and Maltese mix dogs between 4 and 10 years old. Read the full story

Warning, Dogs Ahead: The 2013 Bark in the Park Top Dog Festival is on the agenda this Saturday, April 27, at Historic Rural Hill, 4431 Neck Road, Huntersville.
Organizers say last year’s festival attracted more than 17,500 people, and their dogs. This year’s 9th annual event runs 10am to 4pm, rain or shine. Read the full story

It started as tires were screeching throughout the streets of Monroe, North Carolina and it ended with the heartbreaking yelps of a puppy barely old enough to be weaned from her mother. Captain Beth Greene of the Monroe Police Department, was alerted and began lifesaving efforts to help this precious girl. After contacting Daryl Wagner with FurBabies Animal Rescue Group, the puppy was rushed to Miller Animal Hospital with life-threatening injuries and given a grave prognosis. A plea for help was posted on Facebook and a community of passionate and caring animal lovers came together offering prayers and donations for a pup they were calling Rudy. Read the full story
