Cornelius-Lemley Fire and Rescue responded to 44 calls over the past week, ïncluding an SUV that burned up on I-77, a fatal house fire in Davidson, a kitchen fire at Peninsula China Bistro, and a large outside fire. Firefighters also responded to 8 fire alarms and one call for carbon monoxide in a home. More information about these and others below, along with a tally of this week's medical calls.

President Barack Obama will pay a visit to the Lake Norman area on Thursday, stopping at Mooresville Middle School to see how the curriculum there takes advantage of technology and digital learning.

Commissioners spent much of Monday night's meeting talking about bonds. Specifically, the board is considering seeking voter approval as early as November to issue up to $20.4 million in bonds to pay for street repairs and sidewalks, parks and recreation and greenways - and a proposed community arts center (photo) on the east side of town. The Davidson Green School will hold an information session on Tuesday, June 4, at 5:30pm at Davidson Public Library, 119 S. Main St., Davidson. It’s open to the public and will include information about the school’s curriculum, programs and enrollment. Meanwhile, the school has found a home: Organizers say they have a contract to buy 511 S.
