The outer lanes of Jetton Road will be closed from Jetton Park to John Connor Road Saturday morning during the Jetton Park Triathlon. The event will be held at the park from 8 to 11 a.m.

Congratulations are due this week to students for all sorts of accomplishments. The W. A. Hough High School Army JROTC Husky Battalion won the Superintendent's Cup, making it the number one JROTC program in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools district. Meanwhile, St. Mark Catholic School placed 13th overall in the state Science Olympiad, with two students taking first place in their event and several others placing in the top ten. Also, 56 Cannon School students received national recognition in Spanish. Read for details.

There’s still time to register for the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce’s first annual “Chicks with Sticks” golf tournament at Birkdale Golf Club Monday. Meanwhile, The Dirty Martini will host a “Friday Night Fever” event next week to benefit Little Smiles, and the Hope House Foundation plans a wine tasting fundraiser in June.
