Resilience has a face. That’s what I thought watching Elizabeth Smart speaking to CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer during the media coverage of the captives in Cleveland, Ohio. Her authoritative tone, her bright and alert eyes, and the soft compassion in her voice was a striking contrast to my most memorable image of Smart, downcast eyes nearly buried.

Consultants will present the proposed alignment for the Caldwell Station Creek Greenway at a public workshop Thursday, May 23. The $2 million, 2-mile greenway will link Bailey Road Park on NC 115 with US 21 near the Home Depot.

The staff of Davidson Elementary School beat their counterparts from J.V. Washam Elementary School by three points (39-36) on April 25, in their annual charity challenge basketball game, which was a fundraiser for Ada Jenkins Center.

SOURCE: Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools CHARLOTTE - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education on Tuesday unanimously approved a proposed 2013-14 budget request of $365.9 million from Mecklenburg County. The budget request identifies greater choice for students and increased capacity for technology as two key areas of focus, reflecting input from students, parents and the public in general. The district also identifies stronger partnerships with business, the faith community and local organizations as a top priority.
