Mrs. Ona Johnston Holbrook, 87, of Huntersville, NC died Sunday July 22, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville. Born September 17, 1924 in Huntersville she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Wilson Johnston and Bessie Head Johnston. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Huntersville, formerly employed as a film editor for MGM and Paramount Pictures and a homemaker.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 25 at the First Baptist Church of Huntersville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Read the full story

Willis Deal

Mr. Willis Earl Deal, 77, of Huntersville, NC died Friday, July 20, 2012 at his residence. Born August 21, 1935 in Craven County NC he was a son of the late James and Mildred Rowes Deal. He was employed with numerous trucking companies as a truck driver, most recently, Akers and Yellow Freight when he retired. He loved working in his yard and garden and was an avid card player, especially poker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday July 23 in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Read the full story

James Eugene Rogers, 90

James Eugene Rogers

James Eugene Rogers, 90, of Huntersville, N.C., pased away Thursday, June 21, 2012. He was born July 25, 1921 in Rowan County, N.C. to the late Fred M. and Maude Stinson Rogers.

He was a member of the Huntersville High Class of 1939 and served in the military during WWII. In 1983 he retired from the City of Charlotte after 32 years of service during which he received many safe driver awards and was selected the “City Employee of the Year 1978″. He was married to Novem Ervin Rogers for 56 years until her death in 2002. Read the full story
