Bella Love and Cornelius PARC are planning another ‘Tawba Walk art crawl this Friday night, March 15, in downtown Cornelius, with live art, local bands, food trucks and other vendors and entertainment.
The ‘Tawba Walk III will run from 6 to 10pm at the Oak Street Mill, 19725 Oak St.
The nighttime street festival is the latest in a series of events aimed at promoting downtown Conrelius as an arts district. Downtown businesses and organizations will extend their hours for the event, including Kadifit, Community Arts Project, Bebe Gallini’s, Ava Lilly’s, The Olive Branch, Memories Pawn Shop and Bella Love Studios. With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, are you feeling in a charitable mood? There are plenty of events going on this weekend in Davidson and surrounding communities to fill that need – and your entertainment needs as well.
Friday brings the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber’s annual RibFest fundraiser for the Holy Smokes Mission and Ministry and other community programs. And on Friday and Saturday, the Oak Street Mill will hold the Lake Norman Artisan Marketplace, with proceeds going toward the Kilgoris Project’s support of a Kenyan village through education, feeding programs, economic development and clean water. And Summit Coffee in downtown Davidson will hold two musical fundraisers as part of its “Movember” men’s health program. Read the full story

Buying art can be expensive at times. In trying to up my charm quotient and keep my wallet under control, I’ve taken to buying delightful pieces of ephemera. I had just learned the word, ephemera, a few years ago when my sister-in-law (an industrial designer) started collecting four-color book plates, sheet music, vintage photographs, and the like, then selling them on Etsy for 10 to 15 times the amount she bought them for. (Etsy.com is like Ebay for creative types.)
The dictionary defines ephemera as “items designed to be useful or important for only a short time, especially pamphlets, notices, tickets, etc.”
