this week bugThe British classical vocal group Stile Antico returns to town for a concert Tuesday night at Davidson United Methodist Church titled “Treasures of the Renaissance: Masterpieces from the Golden Age of Choral Music.” Meanwhile, Sunday brings the first Concert on the Green in Davidson, featuring the Davidson College symphony and jazz ensemble. The week’s calendar also is busy with spring festivals and other events – from Art on the Green in downtown Davidson to the Rural Hill Scottish Festival and Loch Norman Highland Games in Huntersville, both this weekend. The Whitewater Center in Charlotte hosts its first “Tuck Fest.” Davidson Community Players Connie Co. youth theater continues its run of “Treasure Island.” And Friday night, you can support the Davidson Lands Conservancy at its “Toast the Earth” wine tasting and fundraiser at River Run Country Club.

In Huntersville, get on your kilt for the 19th annual Rural Hill Scottish Festival and Loch Norman Highland Games. Davidson’s Art on the Green festival is back for another year, running Saturday and Sunday in downtown Davidson. This weekend also brings the season’s first Davidson Concert of the Green. The region’s Jewish community gathers at Davidson College Thursday night for Yom HaShoah, a Holocaust Remembrance ceremony. Get ready for another busy week throughout the area, with a long list of local and regional events – from the 19th annual Rural Hill Scottish Festival and Loch Norman Highland Games to Davidson’s Art on the Green and the season opening Concert on the Green. Cornelius observes Earth Day Saturday at Robbins Park.  Also on the schedule: Davidson Community Players’ Connie Company presents “A Bear Named Paddington” while Davidson College students perform a series of one-act plays. Monday brings a Cornelius Town Board meeting and there’s a public hearing in Huntersville Wednesday on the widening of I-77. The region’s Jewish community gathers at Davidson College Thursday for Yom HaShoah, a Holocaust Remembrance ceremony. Davidson’s annual Art on the Green festival returns to the Village Green this weekend, part of the April is for Arts celebration of art and culture in North Mecklenburg. Art on the Green includes food, music, and a juried exhibit and demonstrations of arts and crafts by regional artists.

The festival is Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, from noon to 4 p.m.
