A couple of weeks ago, I received a message from Tony Vo, owner of The Waterbean Coffee Shop in Cornelius. He said "a very important announcement" from Google would be made at his shop on Oct. 9 and that I should stop by for complimentary coffee and pastries. As if to ensure his personal invitation would be enough to lure me in, he added, "I think the Mayor and Senator will be there, also." I'm a sucker for dignitaries and free muffins. I was in.
