Organ at Davidson
DAVIDSON – The annual Bach Birthday Bash, in honor of Johann Sebastian Bach’s 327th birthday, will become an audience challenge at the next Organ at Davidson concert Tuesday, March 20. Organists will playt variety of works that may or may not have been written by Bach himself. The audience will be invited to guess – Bach or merely “Bach-ian”?
With no composers listed in the Organ at Davidson March program, audience members are on their own with pencils poised as they listen and guess if the piece is by Bach or a relative or student. Suspense remains until lists are tallied at the end of the concert.
Winners will be recognized at a post-concert reception that gives a nod to the popular “Biscuits and Bach” program, hosted by Rachel Stewart, each Sunday morning on WDAV.
The Bach Birthday Bash begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in the sanctuary at Davidson College Presbyterian Church. It’s free, with donations gratefully accepted toward expanding the Organ at Davidson series. A reception follows in the parlor.
