In a restaurant heavy area such as Birkdale Village in Huntersville, you would have thought a new addition would find it difficult. Bonefish Grill saw it as the perfect opportunity to add to a list of locations that now tops 150.
The owners liked the location, including the fact that the sign is one of the most visible in Birkdale while driving along nearby Sam Furr Road, managing partner Jordan Biel told us during a visit last week.
First impression: If you are seated away from the windows, it is particularly dark in there. That aside, we were quickly attended to by a knowledgeable server. After completing an intense six-day training program, the staff certainly have answers to any questions you may have and are full of useful information and suggestions on the menu. Cornelius said goodbye to a restaurant fixture a couple weeks ago, as K&W Cafeteria closed its doors April 29. Meanwhile, Prickly Pear has moved to a new location in Mooresville, and Lancaster’s BBQ celebrates 25 years of business. Also, Concord Mills will host a hot dog eating contest, and Zink in Charlotte is helping out the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library, donating a portion of sales to buy books. Read below for details. DAVIDSON - Davidson Farmer’s Market will come out of winter mode and return for its fifth year of full weekly markets this Saturday, April 7, in downtown Davidson. As the new spring/summer season begins, the market will feature favorite veteran vendors and welcome new ones selling everything from gourmet chocolate to cheese to breakfast sandwiches.
The market is open every Saturday 8 a.m. to noon through October on the market ground, off South Main Street next to Davidson Town Hall. This Saturday’s events include chef Vera Samuels, who will be demonstrating how to cook Easter Brunch French Toast and Moroccan Kale Salad. Read the full story

“Why didn’t anyone think of this before?” is the obvious question about the first ever Davidson Dinner Promenade, sponsored by The Town of Davidson and several local restaurants. On March 8, 16 Davidson residents enjoyed a progressive-style dinner featuring mini-courses at Restaurant X, Campania Café & Trattoria, Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse, Toast Café of Davidson and Il Bosco Ristorante & Bar.
As participants walked from one restaurant to the next in perfect early March weather, Stewart Gray, of the Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission and Davidson Historical Society, treated us to a series of impromptu history lessons about the Town of Davidson. Read the full story
