John Aneralla and Jeff Tarte
Cornelius Mayor Jeff Tarte and Huntersville business owner John Aneralla, both candidates for the N.C. District 41 Senate seat, will face each other at a candidate forum June 21 at Cornelius Town Hall. The men finished neck and neck in the Republican Primary race May 8, but neither got the 40 percent needed to avoid a runoff. So they continue to campaign in anticipation of the runoff vote in July.
The men are vying to represent a new district covering Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, Matthews Mint Hill and parts of southeast Charlotte. They beat three other Republican candidates in the primary, which doubles as the deciding vote: No Democrats or Independents registered to run in the district, which means either Mr. Aneralla or Mayor Tarte will become the area’s new state senator.
Presented by Dobi Financial Group and sponsored by KS Audio Video and GHC Professional Roofing, with program sponsor Raymer-Kepner Funeral Services, the forum and lunch runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Avenue.
