Cornelius Police continue to search for suspects in a Jan. 23 armed robbery at the Rite Aid on West Catawba Avenue. Meanwhile, on Sunday police responded to an alarm at the Smoke Shop, at 19732 W. Catawba Ave., and found the front window broken and items stolen. Also, a 20-year-old Cornelius woman arrested with two men Jan. 3 on felony larceny and conspiracy charges also faces additional charges related to the case. Two men robbed the Rite Aid in Cornelius Monday night. (Cornelius Police Department photo)
Two men robbed a Cornelius Rite Aid at gunpoint Monday night and police are asking for the public’s help in locating them.
According to police and the store security video, two suspects, both black males, entered the store, at
19440 West Catawba Ave., around 9 p.m., ordered the manager at gun point to open the safe, and stole an undisclosed amount of money. During the robbery, the manager was hit on the head with a firearm. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived at 9:02 p.m.

Police describe suspect 1 as a black male, wearing a dark hoodie, dark gloves and dark jeans. Police describe suspect 2 as a light-skinned black male, wearing a dark hoodie, light or white gloves, and dark jeans.
Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the two suspects is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 704-896-7467. Rite Aid is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. You may remain anonymous.

The Cornelius Police Department, in partnership with Rite Aid Pharmacy, hosts Operation Medicine Drop Saturday and encourages community members to bring their expired and unused medications to the Rite Aid parking lot, 21500 Catawba Ave., adjacent to the Police Department, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Unintentional poisoning from prescription medications is on the rise in North Carolina, according to police.
Operation Medicine Drop is a free event, offering citizens a safe and secure way to dispose of their expired, unused prescription drugs or over-the-counter medications – no questions asked – and keep them out of the wrong hands.
Collectors cannot accept biohazard materials. For more information visit http://www.omd-nc.org/
