The main streets of Cornelius and Davidson were filled with sights and sounds of the holidays Saturday for the 30th annual North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade
, and organizers say it may have been the biggest ever.
A total of 2,831 people had signed up to march in the parade, said Wilson Sadler, of Davidson Fire Department. That mades it the biggest in memory and perhaps ever.
The Davidson and Cornelius-Lemley volunteer fire departments organized the parade, which began in 1983 as a fundraiser Janis Stowe, who was battling leukemia. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest holiday parades in the area, attracting marchers from throughout the region. Read the full story
