The experience of arriving at a behavioral health hospital can be difficult for patients in mental distress. But a Davidson College art student has changed the picture at Carolinas HealthCare System Behavioral Health Hospital off NC 73 in Davidson.
Stewy Robertson, who graduated from Davidson this month, was at the hospital this week painting a colorful landscape on the walls of the hospital’s sally port, which is the first thing patients see when they arrive.

Elie Bou Zeidan and his students are making progress this week on that temporary mural covering up an abandoned building on Catawba Avenue. Here’s a shot from Monday afternoon, when the painting crew was adding details to the painted storefront, covering the storefront.

Local artist Elie Bou Zeidan’s mural was selected in a vote at last week’s ‘Tawba Walk IV to be installed on Catawba Ave.

The Cornelius Cultural Arts Group, a new non-profit focused on transforming downtown Cornelius into a hub for local artists and small businesses, plans to install a temporary public art piece soon at an abandoned Catawba Avenue storefront that has long been an eyesore downtown.
The building at 21314 Catawba Avenue, next to The Olive Branch, is scheduled for a renovation soon. The mural by Cornelius artist Elie Bou Zeidan is designed to improve the view while the work is under way. Read the full story
