Area voters will be able to question candidates twice over the next two weeks when the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce hosts candidate forums in Davidson and Huntersville. The forums are this Thursday, Oct. 4, in Huntersville and next Thursday, Oct. 11, at Davidson College. County Commissioner Jennifer Roberts announced Monday she plans to run for the U.S. House of Representatives from the 9th District. The seat is up for grabs with the departure of longtime U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick, who announced last week she would retire when her term ends. See that story on our Election 2012 page.

U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick, R-Charlotte, said Tuesday she won’t seek re-election in the reconfigured ninth Congressional district. The district will now stretch from Union County north to south Iredell and includes Davidson and Cornelius. At least one candidate – Republican county commissioner and former sheriff Jim Pendergraph – has already thrown a hat into ring. See our Election 2012 Page

A redistricting plan unveiled Friday by the Republican chairs of the N.C. House and N.C. Senate Redistricting Committees would shift north Mecklenburg (including Davidson) out of the 12th Congressional district and into a reconfigured 9th District.
