A crowd swarmed the American Legion hall on Legion Street Thursday at lunchtime for a pork barbecue fund raiser. After an afternoon lull, things got busy again during the evening rush hour as more diners stopped for $9 plates or a trio of sandwiches.
American Legion Post 86 also held a cash raffle, with the winner taking home half the money raised. The rest, plus proceeds from the barbecue dinner, will help with the post’s commemorative events, volunteer veteran support activities and volunteer assistance at Veterans Administration hospitals and clinics.
