Warren Buffett talks to 15-year-old Jake Johnson about Beaux Up, interchangeable bow-ties, at Monday’s competition in Omaha.

Young entrepreneur Jake Johnson of Davidson has revolutionized the bow tie, and people in high places are taking notice – very high places. The 15-year-old ninth grader at Woodlawn School won the individual grand prize Monday at the “Grow Your Own Business Challenge,” hosted in Omaha, NE, by a man who knows a thing or two about business – billionaire Warren Buffett.
Jake was among five individuals and three teams picked as finalists at the competition. He wowed Buffett and the judges with his Beaux Up, a new version of the classic bow tie. Read the full story

Break-dancing began in the 1970s in New York and may have a bit of a reputation for its urban roots and evolution. But street dancer and hip-hop choreographer Tron Robinson says, “It’s not all dirty south, cars, ladies and gold chains. We do a more positive type of hip-hop, where we focus on the art of it.”
Robinson is break dancer, or B-Boy as they like to be called, and the organizer of the 2nd annual Carolina Get Down festival this Saturday, Feb. 8, from 4-10pm, at KadiFit, in the Oak Street Mill in downtown Cornelius. Read the full story
