Cornelius commissioners voted 5-0 Monday night to create a new Pre-Development Review Committee that will guide developers before they file applications for new projects. The board also agreed to let Modern Nissan on US 21/Statesville Road expand its car lot. And commissioners endorsed a deal with NC Department of Transportation to repair Jetton Road.
The board also approved spending $11,000 in donated funds on improvements at the Cornelius Animal Shelter on Meridian Street. And they heard about plans for an average 4 percent rate increase beginning July 1 for customers of the town-owned ElectriCities electric utility.
The meeting also included a closed session, to consider a possible real estate acquisition and unspecified contractual matters. Read the full story
