Tre’ McKinney wants to be a professional musician. The Hough High School senior from Huntersville recently took a big step toward that goal. The jazz drummer recently earned the top honors at the music scholarship competition sponsored by the North Carolina Jazz Project. An arts movement is emerging in downtown Cornelius, thanks to a group called Bella Love Inc. and local businesses. Twice a month, the Lake Norman area arts community packs in to local fitness studio Kadi Fit for Bella Love Inc.’s open mic night. There, local performers are in abundance. Bella Love and Cornelius PARC are planning another ‘Tawba Walk art crawl on Friday night, March 15, in downtown Cornelius, with live art, local bands, food trucks and other vendors and entertainment.
The ‘Tawba Walk III will run from 6 to 10pm at the Oak Street Mill, 19725 Oak St.
The nighttime street festival is the latest in a series of events aimed at promoting downtown Conrelius as an arts district. Downtown businesses and organizations will extend their hours for the event, including Kadifit, Community Arts Project, Bebe Gallini’s, Ava Lilly’s, The Olive Branch, Memories Pawn Shop and Bella Love Studios.
