Police on Monday arrested two more students Monday in connection with a series of bomb scares at W.A. Hough High School in Cornelius over the past two weeks. The arrests came Monday afternoon after another bomb scare at the school on Bailey Road that brought a Charlotte police bomb squad to check on a suspicious item.
The item did not turn out to be a bomb, and police said at around 1pm Monday they were questioning two people about the incident and a similar scare last week.

A loud roar that some residents described as sounding like a jet engine was heard in the Lake Norman area Friday afternoon and evening, followed by the smell of gas from Cornelius to Davidson to Mount Mourne. The odor prompted more than two dozen fire and medical calls in Davidson and Cornelius, as well as calls in south Iredell. Piedmont Natural Gas confirmed later Friday night that the smell was the result of venting gas as part of a pipeline construction project in Davidson. See the full story on DavidsonNews.net.
