The Cornelius town board will meet Monday to discuss accepting maintenance of several streets in the Robbins Park neighborhood. Also on the agenda are approval of a contract to repave 4.4 miles roads around town, and a contract to add and extend turn lanes at Bailey Road and NC 115. Commissioners will also hear a presentation on an environmental study for the Catawba Avenue widening project. Read on for details.
Town commissioners will hold a pre-meeting at town hall starting at 5:45pm to hear an update on the state of the regional economy from Ryan McDaniels, director of Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corp. Town Planning Director Wayne Herron will follow the presentation with an update on the progress of residential development in Cornelius.

The regular town board meeting commences after the pre-meeting at 7pm. A representative of the NC Department of Transportation will give a presentation on the environmental study being carried out in preparation for the Phase II improvements to West Catawba Avenue. Phase II aims at widening Catawba Ave. between Jetton Road and NC 73.
VOTES AHEAD
Commissioners will vote on appointing Town Manager Anthony Roberts as the alternate to David Gilroy and Thurman Ross to represent the town at North Carolina Municipal Power Agency meetings.
They will also consider an application from Classica Homes asking that the town accept the responsibility for maintenance of six roads in The Preserve at Robbins Park subdivision.
ROADS TO BE REPAVED

The town received two bids for next year’s resurfacing projects, the lowest bidder being Ferebee Corp. with a bid of $654,750. Commissioners will vote on whether to accept Ferebee Corp.’s bid. For the full text of the contract, go to the town website.
Town staff is also seeking approval to finalize the terms of two road engineering contracts related to the road bond projects. One of the projects is the addition of turn lanes and the extension of existing turn lanes at the intersection of Bailey Road and NC 115. The other has not yet been uploaded to the town’s website.
