Wrecks on I-77 southbound in Mooresville and I-77 northbound in Cornelius brought traffic to a crawl in the Lake Norman area Friday afternoon, at the start of one of the last weekends of summer.
The NC DOT reported one of two lanes closed on I-77 northbound near Exit 28 because of a wreck just before 2:30. The DOT estimated that traffic would not thin out until 4:30. (See the incident detail at NCDOT.gov.)
In Mooresville, one lane was closed on I-77 Southbound near mile 32, also because of a wreck. That incident also was expected to affect traffic at least through 4:30pm. (See the incident detail at NCDOT.gov.)
The wrecks had the usual side effect – traffic on side roads including NC 115/Old Statesville Road and US 21/Statesville Road.)
