The Cornelius Town Board has moved its regularly schedule meeting next week from Monday to Tuesday night, Sept. 4, because of Monday’s Labor Day holiday. The agenda includes discussions of a new contract with the volunteer fire department, a new pedestrian street lighting policy, and rural preservation in town. The board also will geta presentation on I-77 widening proposals by resident Kurt Naas, who serves on the Cornelius Transportation Advisory Board.
The board also will go into close session to discuss an unspecified legal matter and a real estate acquisition. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., Cornelius.

The board also has an 8 a.m. “agenda preview” meeting at Acropolis Restaurant and a 6 p.m. open session at Town Hall.
