The American Legion Post 86 in Cornelius will host a Memorial Day celebration Monday, May 28. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Cornelius Veterans Memorial Monument at Rotary Plaza, on N.C. 115 near Town Hall.
Plans are still being finalized, Post 86 Commander John Washam said, but the ceremony will include an invocation and benediction, the National Anthem, color guards from local high schools and a 21-gun salute. Commander Washam will lead the ceremony.

The program begins at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28 at the Veteran’s Monument, on N.C. 115 adjacent to Cornelius Town Hall. It is open to the public.
