The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Oct. 4 will host a forum for candidates running for the Cornelius Town Board and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education at-large seats.
Jerry Hancock, host of Final Edition on WTVI Channel 42 in Charlotte, will emcee the event. Mr. Hancock has been a guest commentator on NPR’s All Things Considered and has hosted several programs on public television.
Also in October, Cornelius Today hosts an “Old Fashioned Cornelius BBQ and Candidates Forum” Oct. 6 from noon to 2 p.m. with American legion Post 86 and the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 86 participating. Rev. Mike Bailey will moderate the forum, which will include music and the presentation of colors.
The event is open to the community, and proceeds will benefit the Cornelius Veteran’s Memorial Monument at Rotary Plaza. The goal is to raise $2500 for the monument. Sponsorship checks are tax deductible and should be made out to the Cornelius Veterans Monument.
